Manchester based charities are making an appeal for volunteers and donations to help people living on the streets during the cold weather period.
One charity who supports homeless people is Barnabus, who are aiming to help homeless people who become more at risk during the cold weather.
One example of the life threatening conditions homeless people face was in 1997 when 37 people died on the streets during winter, something that charities are preventing from happening again.
There is emergency accommodation available such as the Narrowgate Night Shelter who have 23 beds to allocate to homeless people but during winter cold spells the shelters resources become stretched.
Both Barnabus and the Narrowgate Night Shelter both relay on donations from the public. Donations that are urgently needed are hats, gloves, thermal socks and sleeping bags.
